"We do not want children who simply obey and are there without interest, but we
want to help them in their mental and emotional growth. Therefore, we should not try
to give small ideas, but great ones, so that they not only receive them but ask for
more" kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkMaria Montessori

This class is part of the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) scheme.
This scheme aims to provide one year of free pre-school education to every child in Ireland
aged between 3 years 3 months and 4 years 6 months on 1st September each year. Kids
United is a registered provider of the ECCE government funded scheme.
In the Montessori class the children follow a structured routine based around work time.
During work time the children choose an activity/work, having been previously introduced to
the activity by a teacher. The children can choose between exercises from practical life
(exercises from everyday life), sensorial (refining the five senses), Maths, Language and
Culture (History, Science and Geography). Each child's progress and achievements are
recorded on a daily basis.
Each week or second week the children are introduced to a new project.
Children are encouraged to experience more advanced arts and crafts using different mediums.
They are also introduced to French and Irish, taught in an informal manner through songs,
stories and games.
In the afternoon the children follow a more relaxed programme incorporating imaginative play,
construction, outdoor activities (weather permitting), stories, singing and music.
